My oldest daughter Claartje, now 19, in front of a collection of 70’s original Robert Indiana prints hanging on walls of what used to be my office way back when in The Hague. Sadly the prints are gone, thankfully Claartje is still very much around.

If I have to name one designer/illustrator I truly admire it would be Milton Glaser. Here he is on one of my favourite websites: www.oldjewstellingjokes.com. Mr Glaser is in his eighties now, but still working and creating very inspiring illustrations and design.

America, are you happy? The emotional words contained in hundreds of millions of messages posted to the Twitter website may hold the answer.

Computer scientist Alan Mislove at Northeastern University in Boston and colleagues have found that these “tweets” suggest that the west coast is happier than the east coast, and across the country happiness peaks each Sunday morning, with a trough on Thursday evenings. The team calls their work the “pulse of the nation”.

Inspiration

My mom’s (the) pill box. Bought at Biba in 1967. She and I visited London for a couple of days. Some of my first memories stem from that trip. And today (May 10th) it was 50 years ago the pill was first introduced in the US.

What I love about the design it perfectly reflects its era - late sixties, flower power, freedom, fun and liberation.
