Joe D’Agnese thought I might enjoy this. He was wrong - I LOVE this clip. Saul Bass is one of the greatest designers ever and will always be an inspiration to me. Thanks for sending this Joe.
They Call Me D’Agnese interviews Hunter F. Goss about the process of writing, editing and publishing. There’s also a bit about the book cover design for Goss’s Night Market. Check it out!
The interview by Joe D’Agnese reminded me of the covers I designed about a year ago as a pitch to Ron Rash, an author whose work I greatly admire, and would love to design for. He found the illustrations wonderful, graciously allowed me to publish them on my website, and referred me to his agent. Which sadly is where the story ended. Following are a 5 of the 9 covers I designed, all stories part of Chemistry and Other Stories, available from Amazon. Buy this collection - it is a wonderful introduction to Rash’s amazing stories set in the Appalachians. (No endorsement by Ron Rash, his agent or his publisher is implied).

I’m honoured to be interviewed by Joe D’Agnese on his They Call Me D’Agnese blog.

Earlier this year Joe D’Agnese published The Scientist & The Sociopath, True Science Stories, a collection of true scientific stories. Jersey Heat is his first novel. Set around 1993 during a hot and hazy summer in New Jersey, this excellent environmental thriller introduces a wide range of characters, from both sides of the track.
Buy Jersey Heat from Amazon today and you receive two bonuses:
- Your purchase entitles you to a coupon good for a free copy of the author’s nonfiction eBook, The Scientist & The Sociopath, True Science Stories.
- A free, 3-chapter excerpt of the new horror novel, Haven House, by author Stuart Connelly.

When award-winning journalist Joe D’Agnese, known for his compassionate portraits of scientists, approached me for a cover for his The Scientist & the Sociopath, I knew I’d be in for a treat. Aside from reading fiction I love reading about science. NewScientist and WIRED are staple reading for me. Buy The Scientist & the Sociopath, which does not include guns, dames, vampires, werewolves, sexy succubi, erotic situations, bloodletting, car chases, ghosts, daring heists, murder, piracy on the high seas, toppled empires, ousted crowned heads of states, ruggedly handsome symbologists, monsters from the deep, monsters from below, wizards, witches, warlocks, dragons, demons, dungeons, and only one man who can stop ‘em all - from Amazon today.
